Hiring Trends for 1st Half of 2020

COVID-19 has impacted businesses across the Upstate, nation, and world. Thanks to systems like Microsoft Teams, WebEx, and Zoom, most businesses were able to transition remotely and resume their work. Here at Godshall, we transitioned to all virtual interviews within 24 hours of the stay at home order and have been able to maintain interviewing over 100 candidates per week. Due to technology, we were still able to meet the needs of our clients seamlessly. Not only that, we are seeing some of the best talent in years!

Many have asked what the hiring trends are right now, which industry is the busiest, and what do we expect for the rest of the year. While we can’t see ahead into the future, staffing and recruiting firms like Godshall often see and experience hiring trends sooner than individual businesses.

For Q2 the majority of the hot employment areas have been in the accounting / financial and healthcare sectors. At first there was some hesitancy on moving forward from clients with good reason, but in the end we were able to provide the talent companies needed to survive.

We are currently experiencing a rise in both contract and direct hire placements which is a good indicator that businesses are starting to turn around. The job market continues to grow every day and we remain optimistic that we will see this economy finish strong by the end of 2020.

Some of the financial roles we’ve continued to see a need and place during COVID-19 include:
